The results of one of the polls on our sidebar.

I set up a poll addressing Sarah Brightman and Emmy Rossum. I asked you who you liked better, and Emmy Rossum won. So now, I want to ask why you think that. Why do you think Emmy Rossum deserves the part of Christine and why you think she deserves it more than Sarah.
I think that Emmy Rossum plays the part better because she more resembles the 17 year old girl whose original occupation in the opera house was ballet and chorus. What are your thoughts?
(ps: if you're an author, please post your thoughts as an actual post, not a comment. thanks!)

Tinydancer, I have a question... on one of your polls at the bottom you asked who our fav couple is and you put Erik and Meg as one of them. I was wondering... did Erik and Meg fall in love since Christine chose Raoul? Or did you just put them together to have another couple?

p.s. I have only seen the 2004 movie with Gerard Butler(Phantom), Emmy Rossum(Christine) and Patrick Wilson(Raoul) and if there are any other movies, I haven't seen them, that's why I ask. :)

Eldarwen- Hello! I'm Cassie, one of the authors on this blog! I'm answer your question since I was the one that made the poll. :D

In the movie, novel, etc, no, Erik and Meg did not fall in love. Erik actually died. Some fans though, think that Meg would have been a better match for Erik than Christine. It has nothing to do with what actually happened, just a person's personal view on it.

I hope that cleared some things up for you and if you are still confused, feel free to ask again!

Blessings,
Cassie

Thank you, Cassie! :) I like Christine as a match for him better, but I cried when she chose Raoul over Erik! I mean, I know he killed people and was mad, but he was alone and he loved her and... well, have you heard the song "No One Would Listen" that Erik sings? That song explains what I'm tryin' to say exactly! Poor Erik! Plus, Gerard Butler is the best phantom I've seen! He's very handsome! *giggles* lol :D

yes. Gerard Butler is the best Phantom ever. :) even though Michael Crawford beats him when it comes to singing...
I mean, the Phantom did love Christine, and he's had a life time of hatred and despair, but Raoul loves her, too! I'm completely torn.
And i think that Meg would make a god match for him if it was the Meg from the movie. Meg in the book is an idiot.

Yeah, I was torn between Erik and Raoul, too. But the phantom is very handsome and, I don't know, I've never liked men with long hair dressed all nice (as in, expensive lookin' clothing). That's why I always liked the phantom better than Raoul! It may sound like a stupid reason, but I just can't explain it.

Really?!?! I like Gerard's voice better than Michael's! That's so funny! :) Well, it's probably just because I think he's so cute and I don't really listen to his voice. But I do like how he's all mysterious and his voice is deep and dark sounding. lol :D

I would have to say that if I were Christine I wouldn't have chosen either of them. I mean, Erik is handsome, yes, and Raoul *can* be, but I would find someone different than both of them. The phantom is too bad and Raoul is too... good. lol :D I can't explain it.

I think that Michael has a MUCH better voice. His is haunting. Gerard's is much too harsh sounding.

Is anyone besides me bothered my Gerard's lack of make up and skimpy mask in the movie? He didn't looked "maimed" enough and I agree, in a way, he was TOO handsome to play Erik.

Eldarwen, I'd recommend reading the novel, dear. It sheds a whole new light on everything and it is an INCREDIBLE book.

I understand completely what you mean about Raoul being too "good" I find him to be an absolulute baby.

I think he is in the movie, and that even down plays his 'baby-ness' from the book. But in the opera I went to (and in the one with the original london cast), he was very tall and strong and... just passionate, that's all.
I think a mix between Gerard and Michael would make the perfect Phantom. the Phantom should be harsh: he has known only a full life of hatred and despair (as I stated), and yet... He's a Phantom. But I will hold to Michael forever. gerard is certainly not hard to look at, but the Phantom is supposed to be. That's what makes his story so heart breaking, tear wrenching, so on and so forth... so yeah. :)

I know that Erik should be harsh, but I prefer Michal's haunting voice to Gerard's passionately angry one.

Gerard is very handsome, but not deformed enough. Gerard's face would have made a good Erik, just with lots more makeup on and a mask that covers more of his face.
We're not supposed to TELL that he is handsome... :D
